Six People Killed in Boksburg Mass Shooting, Police Launch Manhunt

A tragic mass shooting in Reiger Park, Boksburg, has left six people dead and three others wounded after gunmen opened fire on Saturday afternoon. The shooting happened around 2:30 PM when two cars entered the area and their occupants started shooting randomly at people.
According to Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the spokesperson for the Gauteng police, the vehicles involved were a silver Volkswagen Polo and a black Volkswagen Polo. The attackers fired several shots before fleeing the scene.
At this point, the motive behind the attack is still unknown. Police are continuing their investigations and following leads to identify and arrest those responsible.
“The circumstances of the shooting are not clear at this stage, but investigations are underway,” stated Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.
Following the attack, Major General Fred Kekan, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Gauteng, has ordered the deployment of additional police resources to help with the investigation and to increase visibility in the area.
The police are urging members of the Reiger Park community to cooperate with authorities by sharing any information that could help the investigation.
“The Acting Provincial Commissioner has appealed to the community of Reiger Park to allow law enforcement to do their job and work together with them by reporting any criminal activities,” Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said.

The names of the victims have not yet been released, as police are in the process of notifying their families. The three injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been disclosed.
Police have cordoned off the crime scene in Reiger Park, which falls under the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality on the East Rand of Johannesburg, a region that has experienced several violent incidents in recent months.
This shooting is just one of several violent crimes recently reported across South Africa. Few days back, a taxi boss and his friend were were killed .
Violent crime rates in South Africa have become alarming. As of reporting no arrests had been made.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the vehicles or the shooters involved in the Boksburg incident to come forward.
