Five Killed in Bus Crash on R33

A tragic bus accident occurred on yesterday , on the R33 road in Mpumalanga, resulting in the deaths of five passengers and leaving several others injured. The bus was traveling from Johannesburg to Mpumalanga when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

Preliminary investigations suggest that wet road conditions may have played a role in the crash. The bus was carrying a total of 31 passengers at the time of the incident, as some had exited at various stops along the route. Six people were critically injured while 20 others had minor injuries. The driver was among the injured and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Emergency services responded quickly to the scene to provide medical help and manage the situation. The Department of Community Safety is conducting a thorough investigation to find out what caused the accident.

Authorities are urging all drivers to exercise caution, especially in hazardous weather conditions. Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr. Jackie Macie, stated, “Every driver must prioritize their own safety and that of other road users. Let us save lives by being highly alert and obeying the rules of the road.”

He also extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
