Former Gauteng Health MEC Brian Hlongwa Dies

The African National Congress (ANC) is mourning the death of former Gauteng Health MEC, Brian Hlongwa, who passed away yesterday, after battling an illness.
Hlongwa’s passing is a major loss for the ANC and the people he served.
ANC Gauteng Spokesperson Mzi Khumalo shared their sorrow, calling Hlongwa “an astute and seasoned political educator, who also served at the OR Tambo School of Leadership as a manager dealing with political education programmes.”
The ANC sent its condolences to Hlongwa’s family, friends, and comrades, recognizing his work for the party and his commitment to political education. He played an important role in shaping future leaders in the ANC.
Aside from his political career, Hlongwa was a mentor who helped many through his work at the OR Tambo School of Leadership. His focus on political education aimed to empower young leaders, showing his dedication to the ANC’s ideals.
As the ANC remembers Hlongwa, they also think about the impact he made during his career. He served as the MEC for Health in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature until 2009, where his time included both successes and controversies.
