Ramaphosa Encourages Matric Class of 2025 Ahead of Final Exams

President Cyril Ramaphosa has conveyed his best wishes to the matric class of 2025 as they embark on their final examinations. With nearly a million candidates set to write the National Senior Certificate exams across the country, the President has offered words of encouragement and support.
In a message released on Monday, October 20, 2025, President Ramaphosa urged the matric class of 2025 to “shine” and make the nation proud. He reminded the learners that “You’ve got this, Class of 2025. All your years and hours of progressing to this point in your education are assets that you can use to your advantage in these exams.” He described the exams as “a springboard to personal and collective progress.”
Acknowledging the pressure and emotional weight that comes with the final stretch, Ramaphosa added, “Each of you has grown intellectually and emotionally… your families and communities have followed your journey with pride and support. We are all by your side as you focus and persevere.” He also noted that “There will be moments of stress and doubt – this happens during high-pressure situations. But we know the odds are in your favour. Reaching these exams is an achievement of which you can be proud, and which gives the nation the confidence that the Class of 25 will move our nation forward.”
The 2025 NSC exams are scheduled to begin today, Tuesday, October 21, and will continue until Thursday, November 27. Over 900,000 candidates have registered for the exams under the Department of Basic Education.
