The Basic Education Department has confirmed that the results will be available on January 13, 2026, but they will be shared in a manner that prioritizes the security of personal information.
In a significant move to safeguard learners’ identities, the matric results will be published using examination numbers only. This means that no individual names or ID numbers will be included in the published results. This approach aligns with a standing court order aimed at protecting student privacy and ensuring that personal information remains confidential.
Terence Khala from the department has emphasized that this method will make results easily accessible for learners and parents while ensuring personal details remain protected. “The department is of the view that it is legally obliged to publish the results in a format that does not compromise the identity of any candidate,” he stated.
The decision to omit names and ID numbers from the results reflects a growing awareness of the importance of privacy in educational settings. By using only examination numbers, the department aims to ensure transparency in the results process without compromising the rights and dignity of every learner. Candidates will be able to access their results through accredited newspapers as well as the official educational website starting at 6 AM on January 13. Learners are encouraged to check the results with their schools or exam centers, where they can obtain statements of results identifying them solely by their examination numbers.
