President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to join residents and business leaders in Kliptown, Soweto today for the CEO-City Clean-Up Partnership Programme.

This initiative, led by Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero, brings together government officials, local citizens, and prominent CEOs to address cleanliness and improve services in the city’s inner areas. The clean-up campaign comes just days before the G20 summit, with government departments reporting good progress in preparations to host global leaders.

The CEO-City Clean-Up Programme aims to speed up urban renewal, enhance service delivery, and restore dignity in important areas. This initiative shows the government’s commitment to working together with citizens to tackle Johannesburg’s challenges.

Johannesburg has been facing significant issues, including old infrastructure, unreliable water and electricity supply, and problems with waste management. President Ramaphosa has previously voiced his concerns about the city’s condition and started a group to improve service delivery quickly. The clean-up campaign is designed to create visible change and encourage long-term investment in revitalizing Johannesburg.

Mayor Dada Morero launched the CEO-City Clean-Up partnership earlier this week, stressing the need for “extreme actions” to deal with the city’s problems. He also pointed out how important public-private partnerships are in tackling these challenges. The “Bomb Squad,” a quick-response team formed to handle service delivery issues, has reportedly addressed most major problems since its creation.

The clean-up campaign, which involves volunteers and contributions from private businesses, reflects a wider effort to encourage civic responsibility and community involvement.

This initiative is part of a bigger vision to make Johannesburg cleaner, safer, and more vibrant for all its residents.
