VANDERBIJLPARK CRASH UPDATE

The 22-year-old driver of the minibus involved in the Vanderbijlpark accident, which killed 12 school learners on monday, has been arrested. He faces 12 charges of culpable homicide for driving with an expired permit.

In response, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has called for stricter rules for scholar transport. The government has started cracking down on unsafe transport practices, issuing many fines to operators and stopping several permits.

Lesufi said there needs to be a review of the rules to make student transport safer. As investigations continue, emotional and financial support is being given to the families affected by this tragedy.
